WalkAlyth - Kirklandbank

1 hour 20 minutes

A climb out of Alyth with views of Alyth and the Sidlaw Hills.

Leave Alyth Square heading towards the Alyth Burn and walk along the left bank of the Alyth Burn past the sculpture and information board which gives information about the historical buildings in the centre of Alyth. Cross Alyth Burn on the footbridge and turn left onto Toutie Street. Walking up Toutie Street you pass the cattle drovers inn, the Lossett Inn. At the top of the street on your left is a 17th century house, and the Toutie Street Community Garden. Facing you is another small garden and the site of the Alyth Market Cross. Turn left onto the High Street and after a short distance look out for a distinctive stone building on your right, and signs for the Cateran Trail and Bamff Wyndd. Turn right here. Ignore a track on the left, and curve right to follow the rough track to West Quarter Farm. Pass through the metal gate.

The track continues steeply uphill. Ignore a track on your right next to a green path sign, and continue uphill. Ignore a gate into a field on your left, and pass through a metal gate on the track. Look out for a metal gate on your left with a nearby large wooden post erected by the Alliance Trust. Pass through the gate into the Community Woodland where you can rest on the wooden bench with a fine view of Alyth and the Sidlaw Hills. Walk along the side of the hill above the planted trees, ignoring paths on your left going downhill.

On reaching a metal gate pass through the gate leaving the Community Woodland and ignore a track on your left into the Bike Park, and a track on your right. Take the good track which curves left downhill past another viewing bench. The path descends above and along the side of the Alyth Community Orchard to reach a large track where you turn left downhill. Passing the Alyth Community Woodland on your left you finally meet Strathmore Terrace. Cross straight over onto Wylies Brae and a steep downhill to meet the Bamff Road. Turn left and keep on this road all the way to Alyth Square.
